Badgerland Challenge Features the Best in Short Track Racing

It’s what short track racing is all about. It’s the top Late Model and Sportsman drivers being showcased in the Badgerland Challenge that is back for a second season of exciting racing action. It’s a three race event featuring the top drivers in the Midwest competing at some of the best short tracks in the United States.

The first event in the Badgerland Challenge will take place on Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile at Madison International Speedway on Friday, June 10th. The Challenge then moves to the World’s Fastest ¼ mile oval, the Slinger Super Speedway on Sunday, July 17th. The final leg will take place on Saturday, August 20th at Wisconsin’s Action Track the Jefferson Speedway.

Drivers will not only be racing for the win and series championship, but for the all important team track points to lay claim to the traveling trophy.

Drivers will be competing for an overall series points championship plus bragging rights for the their home track. Last year’s series winners were Casey Johnson in the Late Models and Terry Wangsness in the Sportsman. Race winners in 2015 included Dale Nottestad (Late Models) and Jason Thoma (Sportsman) at Madison, Casey Johnson (Late Models) and Mike Winters (Sportsman) at Slinger, and Stephen Scheel (Late Models) and Jay Kalbus (Sportsman) at Jefferson.

Badgerland Challenge Points will be awarded and kept separate from host track points. The procedure will be 10 points for setting fast time in qualifying minus one point per position with a minimum of one point for each qualified driver. Heat races will award six points to winner, minus one point per position, minimum of one point for each competing driver. The feature will award 50 points to win, minus 2 points per position, minimum 8 points per feature starting driver. Points will be awarded to the driver, not the car.

Who’s the best? Make plans now to attend all three events to find out. This is going to be one of this summer’s premier racing events in the Badger State.
