Beale Seals the Deal in the Late Models

John Beale won the 30 lap feature for the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Models.

Grant Griesbach and John Baumeister took turns leading the race early on trading places out front for the first seven laps. On lap 9 Beale moved past Baumeister for second and two laps later took the lead from Griesbach while coming out of turn two.

Up to challenge Beale were Kevin Knuese, Bobby Wilberg, and Zack Riddle as the four broke away from the pack. Knuese did everything he could to make his way past the leader, but Beale had an answer for him each time.

Wilberg, who was going for the clean sweep, was sitting in third position patiently waiting for the top two to make contact. That would not happen, but he was able to work his way by Knuese on the last lap to take second, but couldn’t catch the speedy Beale.

“I want to thank my crew and everyone for making this happen,” said Beale. “There were a lot of things going on in my head during those final laps.”

Wilberg set fast time in qualifying with a lap of 18.569. He also won the RA Heating and Air Conditioning Dash. Heat races were won by Matt Lundberg and Wilberg.

Hansberry Jr. Holds Off Goldade to Win Sportsman Feature

Robert Hansberry Jr. won the 20 lap feature for the Dave’s White Rock Sportsman.

Trevor Robinson took the early lead only to see the hard charging Robert Hansberry Jr. run him down on lap 3. Hansberry Jr. tried to run away and hide, but Scott Luck was able to keep him in his sights from the second position. Ryan Goldade and Steve Anderson joined the four car break out with much ground to try and make up.

As the race continued under green, Hansberry Jr. maintained his lead with the battle for second tightening up. The last thing the leader wanted to see was the caution flag come out while the rest of the pack was hoping to see yellow.

Yellow it was! A spin by a lapped car with two laps to go brought out the caution.

On the restart Hansberry Jr. brought the field to the green with Luck and Goldade choosing to line up on the outside. Hansberry Jr. was able to maintain his lead, but Goldade was applyinhg heavy pressure. But in the end it was Hansberry Jr. holding off Goldade by a car length with Anderson, Robinson, and Mike Taylor rounding out the top five.

“I really didn’t want to see the yellow. We were just good enough to get it done,” said the winner from victory lane.

Luck won the 6 lap RA Heating and Air Conditioning Dash and the heat race. Hansberry Jr. was fastest in qualifying with a lap of 19.679.

Chilson Tops 6Shooter Field

Trevor Chilson won the 12 lap feature for the 6Shooters.

Mike Seidel took the lead from the start and held it for three laps before Chilson powered his way by for the lead. Chilson wasted no time building up a lead while Jim Ronspiez and Tyler Siegel were fighting it out for second. Chilson rolled to victory lane with Siegel winning the battle for second place as Seidel battled back to take third.

“Last year we had a couple of good weeks and this week we started out strong,” said Chilson.

Heat races were won by Nick Krohn and Trevor Chilson won the heat races.

Stark Cruises to Four Cylinder Victory.

They don’t call him the “King of the Four Cylinders” for nothing as Kyle Stark took home the checkered flag in the 30 lap feature for the Midwest Compact Touring Series.

Brandon DeLacy took the point from the start before surrendering the top spot to Don Rufener III on the second lap. But it was Stark who was adeptly maneuvering his was through traffic working his way up to second on lap 4 after starting seventeenth.

Rufener III and Stark put some ground between themselves and the field with Stark closing the gap to one car length by lap 6. Devon Dixon was third followed by John Handeland and Phil Malouf.

Stark took the lead on lap 8 when he powered by Rufener III while coming down the front shoot. On lap 13 both Dixon and Handeland were able to pass Rufener III but still had a long way to go to catch Stark without the benefit of a caution flag.

Stark was starting to slow as it appeared he may have smoke coming from his car allowing Dixon to cut into the lead with ten laps to go. But Stark was able to fight his way around lapped traffic while Dixon was doing everything he could to keep the leader in his sights. Stark was able to increase his lead back to 2.5 seconds while Dixon had all he could do to keep Handeland behind him for second before the two made contact with three laps to go bringing out the caution flag.

The caution would negate Stark’s lead and move Malouf up to second followed by Jake Albright, Brandon DeLacy, and Handeland…the only five cars on the lead lap.

After the first restart was waved off when several cars made contact in turn one, Stark made the best of the second one by jumping back out to the lead and cruising to victory lane.

“I was a little worried when the car started smoking,” said Stark in a victory lane interview.

Heat races were won by Brandon DeLacy, Kellie Lille, and Kyle Stark. Dan Irvine toured the half-mile in 21.543 to set fast time in qualifying.

Racing continues on Friday, June 3rd featuring the Must See Racing Sprint Series Winged 410 Open Wheel Sprint Cars plus the Dave’s White Rock Sportsman, Pellitteri Waste Systems Bandits, and the Legends. Pit gates open at 3:30, practice at 5:00, qualifying at 6:15 and racing at 7:30.
