The Joe Shear Classic 200 Entry Form was released for ARCA Midwest Tour Super Late Models teams earlier today. A new program that has been outlined in the entry form now offers four bonus Hoosier Tires to the first forty paid entries for the Madison International Speedway event which will take place on ‘Wisconsin’s Fastest Half Mile’ on Sunday afternoon May 5, 2019.
“Last year we announced that the Shear Classic would pay $10,000 to the winner, this year we wanted to add a new twist for the teams.” Stated ARCA Midwest Tour President Gregg McKarns, whom along with his wife Angie own and operate the MIS facility. “Teams have responded well to this type of program in the past, it takes care of the teams that may have had a bad day and helps get them to the next show.” Last year’s Joe Shear Classic 200 saw young Illinois driver Austin Nason claim his first ARCA Midwest Tour triumph in a race which saw many dramatic turns throughout the afternoon.
On-track action will begin with an optional practice session on Saturday May 4 from noon until 4 for ARCA Midwest Tour, Midwest Truck, Mid-American Stock Car and Upper Midwest Vintage Series teams. An open practice for all divisions is scheduled at MIS on Saturday April 27 as well. Sunday morning May 5, the high banks will come to life at 11:30am with a final round of practice, followed by qualifying at 12:45pm with racing action slated to get underway at 2pm with a full program of preliminary events and features.
