JOHN BEALE & LEVON VANDERGEEST CLAIM MARSHFIELD FEATURE WINS!

July 15, 2019

Marshfield Motor Speedway was blessed with another great day of racing as the Wisconsin Challenge Series and the Midwest Trucks Series visited the speedway, here today.

Stevens Point, WI young gun, Gabe Sommers, winner of his last two feature events, stayed hot as he earned fast time honors for the Wisconsin Challenge Series Super Late Models.  Sommers toured the half-mile paved oval in a lap time of 18.020 seconds.

Gleason, WI driver Justin Mondeik captured the fast dash, an event in which the top 10 drivers in qualifying compete in. Travis Sauter and Andrew Morrissey finished second and third respectively.  Brian Hakala passed Neil Knoblock on the last lap of the qualifier heat, to earn the win.

As starter Patrick Barrett threw the green flag for the start of the WCS 75-lap feature event, it was Justin Mondeik & Travis Sauter leading the field of cars.  Mondeik, whom of which has been fast where ever he races, would lead the first 13 laps.  On lap 14, it was point leader John Beale completing the pass of Mondeik for the race lead.  Travis Sauter would take advantage of the hole that Beale created as he passed Mondeik.  Sauter would motor to the second position as he stayed tight to the back side of Beale.

On lap 21 of the 75 lap feature, Gabe Sommers worked his way around Justin Mondeik to earn the third spot.  With Mondeik running third, it was Wausau, WI driver MG Gajewski moving up to the fifth position.  Gajewski, who recently captured his third straight Flip Merwin Memorial feature event at neighboring State Park Speedway, started closing on Mondeik for the fourth spot.

John Beale was on his game tonight; the Verona, Wisconsin all star driver started lapping cars by lap 35, in a feature event that would run caution free, credit given to a field of talented drivers.  As it appeared, this race was going to come down to Beale or Travis Sauter, two drivers that had excellent prepared stock cars!  On lap 64, with Beale and Travis Sauter comfortably out front, it was MG Gajewski moving by Mondeik for the fourth position.  As the drivers crossed the finish line, it was John Beale winning in a dominating way.  Travis Sauter would finish a strong second, as Gabe Sommers finished a respectable third.  Rounding out the top five were MG Gajewski and Justin Mondeik.
