Oregon, WI- This Sunday’s (May 1, 2022) ARCA Midwest Tour Fast Qualifier can elect to start at the tail of the 28 car field and if they win the 200 lap Joe Shear Classic at Madison International Speedway, they will receive a $3,600 bonus on top of the record $15,000 winner’s purse. The Keen Parts Ultimate Challenge will be offered to the fast qualifier just before they roll the dice to set the invert between 10 and 15. Joining the ‘Stars and Cars’ of the ARCA Midwest Tour will be 1994 MIS and 2003 NASCAR Cup Champion Matt Kenseth. Racing begins at 2pm and will include preliminary events in addition to the 200 lap Super Late Model Joe Shear Classic and 36 lap features for both the Midwest Trucks and 602 Outlaw Late Models.
About Joe Shear: Joe Shear won four track championships at Capital Super Speedway, now known as Madison International Speedway and posted 66 career wins at the Oregon, WI oval. The two time ARTGO Challenge Series Champion recorded 51 ARTGO wins and was also a five time winner on the ASA National Tour. Shear found success at New Smyrna Speedway as well, winning an All Pro Series event there in 1981 and winning the World Series of Asphalt Series there in 1988, claiming the World Series checkered flag a dozen times in his career. The five time LaCrosse Oktoberfest winner won four Slinger Nationals and was the Red, White and Blue State Champion four times. His home track Rockford Speedway witnessed Shear win eight National Short Track Championships including his final career win in 1997. Shear was a seven time Rockford Speedway Track Champion.
