The 52nd Annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend is less than two weeks away at the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, Wisconsin. The four days of racing will kick off on Thursday, October 7th with racing action getting underway at 6pm. A new Super Late Model even has been added to the opening night races with the inaugural Knights of Oktoberfest 25-lap feature event. This event is open to Super Late Model competitors who are not eligible to compete in the annual Futures 25-lap feature event, also happening on Thursday night. “We have had a lot of interest from Super Late Model drivers who wanted to race all four nights at Oktoberfest, but some didn’t fall under the Futures eligibility status which was for young and new drivers,” Chuck Deery, Oktoberfest Race Weekend Promoter explained. “With many fans and competitors familiar with the White Knight, Blue Knight and Black Knight SuperAmerica promotion in the 70’s, we thought it would be a nice tribute to this part of short track history and the winner will receive a very cool trophy.” Along with the Knights and Futures features, the La Crosse Late Models will compete in a pair of 20-lap features towards their 2021 season championship. They will compete in another pair of 20-lap feature events on Friday night. The La Crosse Sportsmen, 6-Shooters, and Hornets will also have feature events on the opening night. The evening of racing will be capped off with the Double-O feature event. A 12-lap event where the drivers compete on both the ¼-mile and 5/8-mile track. Following the racing action, the annual Champions party will take place in the Exhibition Hall featuring DJ Dan Deicher. The Oktoberfest Race Weekend campsite officially opens at noon on Monday, October 4th. The track will be open for practice on Wednesday, October 6th from 3pm to 7pm.
